Stand Up et Aqualung sont mes albums préféré ! |

Then, it's on to European countries in the late Spring and Summer before landing in the USA for two tours spanning September, October and early November.
This tour will feature a more theatrical production with video, additional musicians and a troupe of dancing elephants. (Just kidding about the dancing elephants: they don't dance.,...)

| Réédition prochaine d'Aqualung remixé par Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree).
It’s almost incredible to believe that Aqualung (EMI) is 40 years old. But that’s the case with Jethro Tull’s masterwork. It’s been reissued with a new 5.1 surround sound mix from Porcupine Tree’s Steven Wilson, and in various formats. The reality, though, is that there’s no need for anything additional. The original still stands supreme. |

| Ian Anderson souhaite enregistrer un album de hard rock :
Jethro Tull’s Ian Anderson Plans To Record ‘Hard Rock’ Album by: Matt Wardlaw Yesterday

Jethro Tull’s Ian Anderson is currently promoting his solo sequel to the band’s classic ‘Thick As A Brick’ album, but as he revealed in a recent interview, he’s got quite a few other projects in mind as well.
Speaking with the Morton Report, Anderson shared plans for three new projects that are on his radar at the moment. First on deck and perhaps the most predictable, he aims to re-work classics from the Jethro Tull catalog alongside a string quartet.
Anderson will add flute (of course!) to the renderings, and says that he’s working on the arrangement ideas with Tull keyboardist John O’Hara. Sense of humor fully on display, Anderson mused that the new versions “will be played at people’s weddings and funerals.”
Idea number two finds the veteran Jethro Tull frontman planning a more traditional singer/songwriter type release, but he’ll also look to follow that by adding some real volume to his workload. In fact, Anderson jokes that for his third project idea, he’ll aim to justify that “hard rock/heavy metal Grammy that we [Jethro Tull] won all of those years ago.”
Calling it “kind of a hard rock album,” Anderson says that “maybe the time has come to actually say, “You know? All right, maybe we are a hard rock/metal band.” I think I’d quite like to do one that’s kind of that full-on raging music. But whether I want to another whole album, or maybe just do a big 20-minute song, I don’t know.”
Commenting on the future of his main project, Anderson told Ultimate Classic Rock that he “would never say that it is the end of Jethro Tull.”

| Le 30 septembre, Martin Barre, le guitariste du Tull sort un album solo intitulé Away With Words. Celui-ci sera suivi d'une tournée UK . A noter qu'un premier concert s'est tenu hier au Fairport Cropredy Festival :
TULL’S MARTIN BARRE TO RELEASE AWAY WITH WORDS ON 30th SEPTEMBER
Jethro Tull guitarist Martin Barre has announced the release of his fourth solo album AWAY WITH WORDS, through RSK’s new label, Edifying Records on 30th September. The record will feature new arrangements of Tull material together with some brand new compositions by Barre.
With the seminal prog outfit still on indefinite hiatus, Martin Barre brings back to life some of Jethro Tull’s classics but also less known gems, with the invaluable help of engineer James Bragg. The track list features Requiem, From a Deadbeat to an Old Greaser, Moths, Home and Fire at Midnight amongst others.
“Re-arranging and representing the Tull songs featured on this album became a very pleasant and rewarding task. These lesser known songs have always been amongst my favourite pieces of music and reworking them brought back many good memories” – he confides enthusiastically. Talking about his new compositions included in the album, he says “I have written the rest of the music, hopefully with sympathy and taste. Composing and re-arranging is my passion. Bringing together the many acoustic instruments was a delight for me, but of course the electric guitar couldn’t be totally left out of the picture!” He goes on to say “This album is a fusion of my writing blended together with Ian (Anderson’s) in a continual movement of music.”
On Away With Words, multi-talented Barre plays Acoustic/Classic/Electric Guitars, Bouzouki, Mandolin, Bass, Flute & Bass Clarinet, with Dan Crisp taking care of vocals. Completing the line up are Frank Mead on Blackwood Flute, Whistles, Bodhran and Blues Harp, Jonathan Noyce on bass and George Lindsay on drums & percussion.
Track listing:
1. First Light/Moths 2. It's My Round 3. One Brown Mouse/Fatcat 4. All Bars Hold 5. Air: Lament Of the Spalpeen/Martin's Jig/Hymn 6. Pussy Willow 7. Snapshot/Paparazzi 8. Long Ago/Home 9. Fire At Midnight/From The Ashes 10. Protect & Survive 11. Spare A Thought/From A Dead Beat To An Old Greaser 12. Sundown
Martin Barre started his music career in the early 60s playing saxophone. He audition for Jethro Tull in 1969 and was handpicked by Ian Anderson to take on guitar duties from Mick Abrahams. Today he’s the longest standing member after Anderson himself, having appeared on all of their albums apart from their first. Barre is also a talented flautist, both live and on record, with Jethro Tull and solo. The quality and uniqueness of his work and a series of high profile collaborations contributed to make him one of the world’s most rated rock musicians, with his signature ‘Aqualung’ solo voted as one of the top guitar solos of all times (Guitar Player Magazine).
The album release will be followed by a European tour, UK dates as follows:
9th August Oxfordshire - Fairport Cropredy Festival 28th September Devon - Tavistock Wharf 3rd October Brighton - The Komedia 4th October London - The Borderline 5th October Banbury - The Mill 6th October Hebden Bridge - Trades Club 8th October Sheffield - The Greystones 10th October Wolverhampton - The Robin 11th October Bristol - The Tunnels 12th October Falmouth* - Blues In The Bay Festival 14th October Milton Keynes - The Stables |
