Un nouveau live va paraître dans les semaines qui viennent :

You're probably not accustomed to seeing the phrase "up close and intimate" included in a posting about Metallica, but that's the story on the famed metal band's new live album scheduled to be released in late November.

The album -- Live At Grimey's -- is a recording of the band's fan-only 2008 show at a 150-seat venue in Nashville called The Basement, which is located below indie record store Grimey's New & Preloved Music. The concert took place on June 12, one day before the band headlined the Bonnaroo Music Festival.

But don't expect to find Live At Grimey's at your local Walmart, Best Buy or Target. Instead, the album will be sold exclusively through independent music retailers, specifically those who supported Record Store Day, the annual event held the third Saturday in April in support of brick-and-mortar record stores.

What's on the disc? Plenty of songs guaranteed to rock you to your bones while ticking off your parents or anyone within earshot incapable of appreciating one of metal's finest bands. You get "No Remorse," "Fuel," "Harvester Of Sorrow," "For Whom The Bell Tolls," "Master Of Puppets," "Sad But True," "Motorbreath" and "Seek And Destroy."

Scheduled to drop on the day after Thanksgiving known as "Black Friday (Nov. 26)," Live At Grimey's will also be released as a limited-edition two-disc set on regular-weight 10" vinyl with a gatefold jacket. For a list of retailers carrying the new CD, visit MyMetalClub.com.

L'EP contient neuf titres enregistrés lors d'un concert secret organisé l'après-midi du 12 juin 2008 dans "un des disquaires les plus cool du pays", le Grimey's à Nashville, d'où le nom de l'EP. Le concert a été vu par à peu près 175 personnes.
Cet EP est en soutien des disquaires indépendants aux Etats-Unis, il sera vendu chez plus ou moins 700 disquaires différents. Il sera en vente aussi sur metallica.com et metclub.com.
La date de sortie est annoncée pour le 26 novembre.

Called Lulu, the album is due out on October 31. It was co-produced by Metallica, Reed, Hal Willner and Gred Fidelman (who also mixed it). Among the songs set to appear are:

CJ Ramone a failli être bassiste pour Metallica.

C.J Ramone, l'ancien bassiste des Ramones, a été invité à rejoindre Metallica à deux reprises, mais il a dû refuser l'offre.

Christopher Ward a rejoint les Ramones en 1989 pour remplacer Dee Dee Ramone, jusqu'en 1996. Il vient de révéler qu'il avait été contacté par Metallica au départ de leur bassiste, Jason Newsted. Ward s'est déclaré 'honoré' de l'offre, mais il ne pouvait pas rejoindre le groupe, en raison de problèmes de famille. Metallica a donc recruté Robert Trujilo.

Sur Greatsouthernbrainfart.com, il déclare : "j'ai été contacté par Metallica deux fois. Lorsque Jason [Newsted] a quitté le groupe, ils avaient des difficultés à trouver un remplaçant, ils m'ont contacté deux fois. Mais à cette époque, on a découvert que mon fils souffrait d'autisme, je voulais passer plus de temps avec lui. 'Les médecins m'ont expliqué qu'il avait besoin de se réveiller tous les jours au même endroit, et que les perturbations d'une tournée pouvaient lui être néfastes.' 'Je suis honoré qu'ils m'aient demandé, mais je ne regrette pas ma décision. j'aurais adoré joué dans Metallica, après les Ramones, ça aurait été trop parfait

Metallica are working on their next album, and intend to spend most of next year on the record.

Talking to Gulfnews.com. bassist Robert Trujillo revealed
that the band had a;ready been in the studio with producer Rick Rubin:”
We’ve been busy writing and recording. We’ve got a couple of new songs
we have been working on the past couple of weeks. The writing process
for the new Metallica album has begun. We’ve been in the studio with
Rick Rubin, working on a couple of things, and we’re going to be
recording during the most of next year. We’ve got a lot of work ahead of
us”.

Don’t expect the album to be released before 2013. Five years after Death Magnetic came out.

Metallica est confirmé pour l'édition 2012 du Download Festival. Ils joueront l'intégralité du Black Album :

Metallica are the first band confirmed to headline the Download Festival in 2012.

The iconic band will be playing the whole of The Black Album as part of their set. This is the seventh time Metallica will have played at Donington, starting at Monsters Of Rock in 1985 and also the Download Festival itself in 2006.

Says Lars Ulrich: “Six years is way toooo long to be away from the hallowed grounds of Donington Park. We are beyond psyched and feel privileged to come back once again to soak up the energy and vibe of the most legendary of festival sites”.

Selon Zégut, Metallica pourrait investir le Stade de France le 12 mai 2012.

Trois dates supplémentaires ont été ajoutées sur la tournée européenne où, rappelons-le, ils interprèteront l'intégralité du Black Album.

Metallica have added three more European dates – two in Germany and one in Austria – in the summer, and they’ll be performing The Black Album at all of these.

They happen in June at:

Fri. 1: Nurnberg Rock Im Park

Sat. 2: Nurburgring Rock Am Ring

Sun. 10: Nickelsdorf Nova Rock

They’ll be headlining the Download Festival on Saturday, June 9.

Le bassiste de Metallica était dans l’Aveyron ce dimanche afin de faire baptiser son fils. Une scène surréaliste se tenant dans la petite bourgade de La Besse.

Si la musique de Metallica a toujours affiché un certain raffinement démoniaque, c’est à une scène surréaliste qu’a eu droit le curé de La Besse, petit hameau situé en Sud Aveyron. En effet, Robert Trujillo, bassiste de la formation heavy metal, était présent dans la petite chapelle du village avec son épouse d’origine française, Chloé Barthélémy, afin d’assister ce dimanche au baptême de leur fils âgé de huit mois, Tye-Orion.

Une information qui devrait amuser ceux qui craignent l’imagerie dark du groupe et qui prouve que, finalement, ces braves gaillards sont des gens somme toute normaux. Leur présence dans l’Aveyron peut surprendre, mais il s’agit du lieu de résidence des parents de Chloé, qui ont célébré comme il se doit ce baptême. À noter, enfin, la présence du batteur de Faith No More, Mike Bordin, dans le rôle du parrain.

Le commentaire sur la pub est croustillant. Un Lou Reed qui braille plus qu'il ne chante, Metallica qui s'empêtre dans des jams chiantes à mourir. Bref, au final, une des pires daubes jamais enregistrées.

Le manager de Metallica, Cliff Burnstein va avancer la tournée du groupe qui était programmée en 2013. Selon le Wall Street Journal, Bursntein est très préoccupé par les cours de la bourse et par la crise européenne.

Ce n’est pas qu’il aurait de l’empathie pour les gens dans le besoin, c’est juste qu’il veut faire la tournée le plus vite possible pour …éviter de rester coincé dans le bourbier financier européen et de n’y point trouver son compte… dit la dépêche. La crise menace désormais les pays les plus riches, comme la France par exemple et par voie de conséquence, l’Euro risque de plonger. 17 des pays dans lesquels le groupe doit jouer vont payer Metallica en Euro. Il faut donc passer avant que la monnaie européenne ne soit trop faible. « On fait de l’exportation U.S., de la même façon que Coca-Cola, dit-il. »
