MessageSujet: Re: VAN HALEN   Ven 6 Jan - 19:35

Nouveau titre interprété (She's A Woman) hier soir au Café Wha?

Van Halen played a brand new song when they appeared at the Cafe Wha? in New York last night (Thursday, January 5). And they’ve also confirmed the title of their upcoming album.

The band played a 45-minute set at the small, 250-capacity club in Greenwich Village (which was once owned by Manny Roth, David Lee Roth’s uncle – and the 92-year-old was at this gig), during which time they performed She’s The Woman. Apparently, this song was demoed by the band in the 1970s, but never actually recorded.

The fact that it was included in the set strongly suggests it has been revived for VH’s new album, which is due out on February 7. And Diamond Dave has announced the record will be titled A Different Kind Of Truth.

The rest of VH’s performance featured wall-to-wall classics. Here’s the complete set list:

1. You Really Got Me
2. Runnin’ With The Devil
3. Somebody Get Me A Doctor
4. Everybody Wants Some
5. She’s The Woman
6. Dance The Night Away
7. Panama
8. Hot For Teacher
9. Ice Cream Man
10. Ain’t Talkin Bout Love
11. Jump

VH were scheduled to perform two more songs – Beautiful Girls and Unchained – but didn’t play them in the end.

During the show Roth namechecked some of the stars who have played the Cafe Wha? in the past – Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix among them – and told the audience: “I’m more nervous about this gig than I would ever be in Madison Square Garden”. And among the celebs in the audience was tennis legend John McEnroe, who’s always loved to throw guitar hero shapes.

The band start touring in North America on February 18 in Louisville, Kentucky. The dates so far stretch to June 26 in New Orleans, with tickets on sale from Tuesday, January 10. So far, there’s no hint of any shows outside of the States and Canada.

Check out the full list of dates here. Bizarrely, Kool And The Gang are said to be supporting on selected shows!

Also, according to the Van Halen News Desk, the band’s new single, Tattoo, will premiere on January 10, along with the official video.

Check out the video below (courtesy of NBC New York) of Van Halen – that’s Roth, together with Eddie, Alex and Wolfgang Van Halen – arriving at the Cafe Wha? last night:

En 1982, Eddie aurait, selon Gene Simmons, émis le souhait d'intégrer Kiss !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

During an interview on Nikki Sixx's "The Sixx Sense" radio program this past week, Gene Simmons discussed the topic of Eddie Van Halen joining KISS in 1982. Simmons originally introduced the topic in his 2001 autobiography, "KISS & Make-Up."

"I want to leave [Van Halen] and I want to join KISS," Simmons recalled Van Halen saying in 1982.

MessageSujet: Re: VAN HALEN   Lun 30 Avr - 6:56

David Lee Roth is working on an acoustic album according to Ultimate Classic Rock:

Current Rob Zombie guitarist and longtime Roth associate John 5 tells Guitar World that he and David Lee Roth recently laid down an entire album’s worth of acoustic songs with two of Roth’s "Skyscraper"-era bandmates: drummer Gregg Bissonette and keyboardist Brett Tuggle.

John 5 says that the new material is anything but boring. He says that it’s not “strummy, campfire stuff,” but instead “lots of cool, crazy jazz chords” and “50 or 60 overdubbed guitar tracks with all this harmonizing and other weird stuff going on.”
There are about a dozen songs completed and John 5 says that Dave is in good form, calling his vocals “incredible” and saying that he “sings his ass off.”
John 5 notes that “Dave obviously has his plate full right now with Van Halen, but hopefully this record will get released one of these days.”
Diamond Dave and John 5 first worked together when Roth hired the guitarist, who was then known as John Lowery, to play on his fifth solo album, credited to the DLR Band and released in 1998.
Lowery was working with Rob Halford at that point, something that was of little concern to Roth.

Roth said, “Here’s what I wanna do. I wanna go into the studio and I wanna cut this record just like the old Van Halen days - just knock it out.” John replied, “That’s great, Mr. Roth. Only I’m rehearsing for a tour with Rob Halford.”
Roth replied: “No problem. But I wanna have you fresh every day, so what we’re gonna do is we’re gonna start recording at 6 a.m. Then afterward, you can go do your other thing!”

MessageSujet: Re: VAN HALEN   Ven 18 Mai - 7:09

Van Halen have postponed over 30 dates on their 2012 North American tour, beginning with their show scheduled for July 7 at Uncasville, Ct. and ending with their planned Sept. 25 performance in Milwaukee.

No reason or official statement has been given for these postponements, nor is there any word on when the rescheduled dates might be announced. The timing seems odd, as the band announced earlier this week they were extending the tour with eight new shows.

A press release from the EnergySolutions Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah, where the band was scheduled to perform in September simply reads: “The Van Halen show at EnergySolutions Arena Tuesday, September 4th has been temporarily postponed. Future dates to be announced.”

The band will apparently still be performing throughout May and June, with their next show scheduled for Saturday, May 19 in St. Paul, Minn, followed by 13 more dates culminating on June 26 in New Orleans. A complete schedule of both postponed and still-scheduled Van Halen concerts follows below.

Rolling Stone reports that they have spoken to a source who claims that Van Halen's members "hate each other." Adds the source, "The band is arguing like mad. They are fighting."

Van Halen
We're Just Burned Out
Exclusive

Even rockstars can get tired ... and TMZ has learned that's exactly why Van
Halen decided to postpone 31 upcoming concert dates.

Sources close to the band tell us ... the guys felt like the current
schedule was "too much, too fast" ... and they were "losing their focus."

One source tells us, "They're simply burned out" ... adding, "They want to
make sure their concerts are not a routine ... they want every performance
to be special."

We're told the guys want to take some time to "re-charge their engines" ...
so they can rock all 31 cities the way Van Halen fans expect to be rocked.

As for rumors that Eddie Van Halen and David Lee Roth are feuding ... we're
told "It's total B.S."

If you were concerned by the news that Van Halen postponed over 30 dates on their 2012 tour a couple of days ago, and even more worried about reports it was due to in-band fighting, have hope! According to sources close to the band, the group is simply burned out and needs a break.

Speaking to TMZ, these sources flatly deny that there’s any conflict within the band, stating that instead David Lee Roth and company simply need to “re-charge their engines” so they can perform at their typical high standard.

This explanation makes some sense. The group have performed over thirty shows in the two months since the official tour kick-off in Louisvillle, Ky. Maybe while routing the tour, they simply bit off more than they can chew.

It’s certainly a happier explanation than any learning of any health-related concerns, or thinking that the mighty Van Halen can’t get along after all these years. So let’s just stop this little wheel of fortune right where it is and go enjoy our weekends, yes?

One of the reasons for Sammy Hagar’s longstanding appeal is that nobody onstage has as much fun as he does. Now, he’s got even more reason to smile after hearing the news that Van Halen has postponed more than 30 dates on their 2012 tour.

“I’m surprised it took this long,” Hagar told the Associated Press. “I predicted this was going to happen a lot sooner. I lost money on that bet!”

Hagar was speaking from Atlantic City, N.J., where Chickenfoot played at the House of Blues on Friday (May 18) night. Before the show, Hagar donated $10,000 to Atlantic City’s St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church for its food pantry, something he tries to do in every city he plays.

Although the band is citing exhaustion as the reason for the postponement. Hagar has a different take. They’re hard people to get along with, those brothers,” he continued. “Otherwise I’d still be in the band.”

No such issues are apparent for Chickenfoot, which is currently on tour behind its new album, ‘III.’ They even welcomed back drummer Chad Smith for a surprise encore at Wednesday’s show at the Orpheum Theatre in Boston. Kenny Aronoff has been taking over the drummer’s stool while Smith has been busy with the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Van Halen have announced (via a David Lee Roth "public relations" Video) that their current tour will be expanded and should take up the rest of 2012 and well into 2013. That is in contrast to the recent news that 30 US dates were being postponed.

It seems however, that the band have changed initial plans and are now thinking further ahead than many expected them to.
The US dates have been postponed in order to allow the band breathing space between legs, which now look to include the postponed US cities and other major US stops for a second time as well and international destinations Japan and Australia (c'mon down lads).

There is no word if Europe is back on the band's radar, after an initial 2011 tour there was cancelled before being officially announced..

The band recently were forced to push back a massive portion of their North American tour after overreaching themselves and starting to burn out.

They are due to restart the tour from where they left off later this year and Eddie Van Halen says that the band have something special lined up for fans

"This record took a lot out of us," Eddie told USA Today. "And we went on tour earlier than we wanted to so we could play Madison Square Garden (in March, before a renovation), and that threw the schedule out of whack.

"So in November we'll hit Japan, and in the New Year we'll possibly do something special, but I can't talk about it."

Japan, it’s your turn to welcome back “Diamond Dave“ and the Van Halen clan! After teasing earlier this week that a trek to Japan was being planned for late in the year, the band has seemingly delivered.

According to the Van Halen News Desk, the group will travel overseas to play shows in Osaka Nov. 20, Tokyo Nov. 27, and Nagoya Nov. 29. The official announcement on the shows should be forthcoming next week.

When the Van Halen crew sits foot in the land of the rising sun, they’ll likely be treating Japanese fans to a number of classics. In recent months, the group has been digging further and further into their catalog, pulling out such old favorites as ‘Bottoms Up,’ ‘Hang ‘Em High,’ and ‘Blood and Fire‘ among others.

The news of fresh shows is a positive sign after the band’s recent batch of postponements. Earlier this week, the group teased not only the Japanese shows in November, but that there would be more news coming soon on their 2013 tour plans. This, of course, sparked rumors that they might even perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show next year. Stay tuned as further tour info will be revealed in the coming weeks.

There’s a buzz in the sports community that Van Halen could be on tap to play Super Bowl 47 next year in New Orleans.

NBC Sports first speculated on the band’s involvement a few weeks ago following comments made by Eddie Van Halen regarding the group’s touring plans.

On the heels of canceling a full run of summer US tour dates, Eddie told USA Today that "a lot of the canceled dates were in cities we already played. So in November we'll hit Japan, and in the new year we'll possibly do something special, but I can't talk about it."

MessageSujet: Re: VAN HALEN   Dim 1 Juil - 22:14

Van Halen may have bit off more than they can chew, and they know it. The veteran rockers made headlines earlier this year when they postponed 31 North American tour dates, and now those dates have been canceled.

At the time, David Lee Roth posted a video update stating that there was no recurrence of past tensions in the band but rather realizing they couldn’t keep up the extensive touring pace.

Though the group went ahead and booked a tour of Japan later in the year after the postponement announcement, they’ve now decided to give themselves a bit of a break before returning to the road. Pollstar.com reports that fans with tickets for any shows scheduled after June 28 will be offered a full refund. Cities affected by the cancellations include Uncasville, Baltimore, Rochester, Detroit, Toledo, Memphis, Sacramento, Reno, and Milwaukee.

While Van Halen have suggested that they’ll be playing shows in Japan this November, the band has yet to actually announce or officially confirm anything to date.

Three shows for the band’s “A Different Kind Of Truth” tour have been rumored, including Osaka (Nov 20), Tokyo (Nov 27) and Nagoya (Nov 29).

So far, the only date that’s been remotely confirmed is a November 27 show in Tokyo – a commercial for the event can be viewed here.

Now, Pollstar is confirming the rumored Osaka date is a go: it will take place at the Osaka Chuo Gymnasium on November 20; the concert industry magazine also confirms the November 27 show will be at the Tokyo Dome.

Still no official word on the rumored Nagoya date for November 29.

Van Halen’s only Billboard number-one single has topped a poll of the world’s best sporting songs, ahead of the Olympic Games in London.

Music rights body PRS For Music held a vote among its members to mark the London Olympics. The resulting top 20 also includes the Rolling Stones, Hawkwind, Queen, the Beatles, Survivor, Tina Turner and Journey.

PRS boss Guy Fletcher says: “Music plays such a classic role for both the spectator and participant. As a Brit I would have to vote for Spaundau Ballet’s Gold – I think we might get a few of those, fingers crossed.”

Jump, from Van Halen’s sixth album 1984, has a controversial history. Its heavily-featured synth riff alienated singer David Lee Roth, who’s said to have written the lyrics and performed the track under protest. The change in musical direction led to a split between the founder members and Roth’s later departure. Despite that, it remains one of the band’s most popular tracks.

Meanwhile, PRS for Music will stage a Marc Bolan memorial show in London in September. It’s set to include producer Tony Visconti, John’s Children member Andy Ellison, T Rex saxophonist Howie Casey alongside Alvin Stardust, Steve Harley, Glen Matlock and Rick Wakeman, with more to be announced. The backing band at the Shepherds Bush Empire will be official tribute outfit T Rextasy. Find out more.

Van Halen recently confirmed the details of a fall Japanese tour in support of their latest album, “A Different Kind Of Truth.”

The band will play three concerts in Japan this November, including two in Osaka and one in Tokyo; these shows represent the first Van Halen have played in the country in 14 years.

Now, the Van Halen News Desk is reporting details about an upcoming Van Halen Japanese TV special set to air next week.

The program will be broadcast in Japan on Tuesday, August 7th on BS-TBS, as part of the “Song To Soul” series.

The full hour-long special focuses on Van Halen’s #1 hit, “Jump.”

VHND says that all or most of the footage shown will be brand new, exclusive interviews with David Lee Roth and Eddie and Alex Van Halen discussing the song at Roth’s house, reportedly filmed just two weeks ago.

Just in time for the start of the London Olympics, a UK music industry organization named “Jump” as the most popular sporting song in a new poll of its members - read all about it here.
