Paul Hardcastle le célèbre artiste producteur de 19, le dernier single de Phil Lynott vient de révéler que ce dernier lui avait conseillé de se détourner de la drogue alors qu'il était prêt à plonger dedans. Etonnant quand on sait que le grand Phil n'a pas su se protéger lui-même.



But speaking aged 57 as the track is relaunched, he reveals he never went off the rails – thanks to, of all people, Thin Lizzy frontman Phil Lynott.

Paul says he was producing records for Lynott not long after the success of 19 – just weeks before the heroin addict was found dead of a suspected overdose at 36. He gave Paul advice he never forgot.

“I was being invited to every party going and it was the 1980s, so drugs were ­everywhere,” says Paul.

“Had things been different I could have ended up going off the rails and shoving all my money up my nose. I had the best teacher in Phil Lynott.

“We were close friends and were working on a quite a few tracks. I remember we were having a break from recording in the Roundhouse Studio in London and playing snooker when Phil said, ‘Paul, if I can give you one word of advice in this game, don’t go anywhere near this stuff.

"You think it’s good but it’s not. Look what’s happened to me. It will f*** your whole life up’.

“I was young and it really stuck in my mind. I listened and I never forgot.”

And Paul has another lasting reminder of the tragic star – his jukebox.

Philomena Lynott, la maman du grand Phil, qui comme elle le précise dans l'article suivant, s'est souvent fait cambrioler plusieurs fois mais qui a toujours su préserver l'héritage de son fils en dissimulant les souvenirs de son fils, a confié hier au Musée du Rock And Roll Irlandais qui a ouvert ses portes la semaine dernière, une guitare (que l'on voit d'ailleurs sur le clip de King's Call extrait de son premier album solo Solo In Soho, titre joué en compagnie de Mark Knopfler), une collection de disques d'or, quatre blousons de cuir et des souvenirs d'école.

Phil Lynott's mother Philomena has presented new memorabilia of her son, including three of his prized guitars, to Dublin's Rock `n' Roll Museum. The artefacts also include a school report showing that Phil was something of a maths whizz.

Philomena, accompanied by an armed escort, made the presentation at the museum in Temple Bar earlier today. Three of Phil's guitars, on which he recorded many of Thin Lizzy's best known songs, four of his beloved leather jackets, and a collection of gold discs will now be on exhibit in the newly-opened museum.

The new treasure trove of Phil and Lizzy lore also includes a school report that reveals that Phil, who died aged 36 in 1986, got a mark of 88% in arithmetic when he was a schoolboy.

Speaking to TEN after the presentation, Philomena said: "It was just so good to know that Philip's prized possessions are now safe. I had a solid gold friend minding them for the past two years because my house had been burgled but luckily they didn't find Philip's things. It is a great feeling to know that his fans from all over the world will have a chance to look at his guitars again.

She added: "I spent a long time with a duster shining them up this morning and I can tell you Philip used to shine those guitars himself. In fact, he would put a mirror on the guitars and every time I went to see him play in concert he would make sure I had a front row seat or a balcony seat and he would get the lighting man to shine on that mirror on his guitar and he would direct it at me! He nearly blinded me! After seeing him so many times in concert, I have to say he nearly deafened me too!"  

The guitars and memorabilia will be curated in the Apollo studio as part of the Rock `n' Roll Museum's permanent Phil Lynott and Thin Lizzy exhibit. Apollo Studio is the studio where Phil recorded his last ever single.

The museum opened last week and Director Paddy Dunning says he plans to put out a nationwide call for Irish musicians to donate artefacts and memorabilia in the coming weeks.

Cette photo a été prise le 4 septembre 1983 lors du tout dernier concert du groupe aux Monsters Of Rock à Nuremberg avec également Motörhead à l'affiche. Et qui voit-on sur le côté de la scène ? Brian Robertson, pensif qui regarde ses anciens camarades. Je trouve ça surréaliste comme situation...

Le grand Phil aurait eu 66 ans aujourd'hui...

Pierre, tout ce que je te souhaite, c'est que là où tu es, tu l'as rencontré le grand Phil à qui tu rendais déjà hommage de façon très talentueuse.
