Sortie d'un coffret 40ème anniversaire de Permanent Waves :
Rush will release a 40th-anniversary box set dedicated to their 1980 breakthrough album Permanent Waves.
While there's no official announcement yet, listings for two-CD and three-LP Deluxe Editions, and well as a Super Deluxe Edition have appeared on Amazon with a release date of March 27. In addition to a remaster of the original album that was made in 2015 at Abbey Road Studios, the collection will add unreleased live cuts from the tour in support of the album and a 20-page book comprised of photos from the band's archive and re-imagined artwork by Hugh Syme. The track listing is below.
The vinyl edition features the original packaging and a new gatefold jacket for the two LPs of live content.
The Super Deluxe Edition contains both the CDs and vinyl formats, and adds a 12,000-word essay and 20 pages to the book found in the Deluxe Edition. Bonus content includes a 20-page notepad using the letterhead from Morin Heights, Quebec's Le Studio, where the album was recorded; two replica tour programs (the official as well as the unofficial U.K.-only The Words & Pictures Volume II); backstage laminates; a double-sided poster and lyrics to three songs (“The Spirit of Radio,” “Entre Nous” and “Natural Science") handwritten by drummer Neil Peart.

The Rush Is a Band fan site believes that the reason there is no 5.1 surround sound mix on Blu-ray, as there was when 1978's Hemispheres got a similar treatment a few years ago, is because the original masters were lost when Trident Studios, where Permanent Waves was mixed, went out of business.
"I just don't think we have the masters for that record," guitarist Alex Lifeson told Metal Express Radio said. "That is typical of those days. Your recordings would stay at the studio where you last worked. You'd get home and the master tapes would go to be mastered, and then the record was released and they would keep your masters as it was safer that way. When we did Permanent Waves, Trident kept the masters, but they went bankrupt and everything disappeared, so we don't have the multi-track masters for that one."

Les membres de Rush reviennent sur la mort de Neil Peart un an plus tard.
Geddy Lee et Alex Lifeson, de Rush, se sont exprimés sur la longue lutte contre le cancer de leur ancien camarade Neil Peart.
Neil Peart est mort il y a plus d’un an
Une longue interview avec Rolling Stone [via UCR] détaille la découverte de la maladie, ainsi que le parcours émotionnel des membres survivants pendant les trois ans et demi de combat de Neil Peart.
D’après l’interview, M. Peart a commencé à soupçonner un problème de santé en juin 2016, dix mois après sa retraite musicale, à la suite de la dernière date de la dernière tournée de Rush, R40 Live. Il a commencé à se battre pour terminer les mots croisés du dimanche du New York Times, un rituel de longue date, et deux mois plus tard, il se serait retrouvé à “faire des erreurs inhabituelles”.
Alors qu’il rendait visite à un médecin, passait une IRM et subissait une intervention chirurgicale, on lui a trouvé un glioblastome, un forme de cancer du cerveau, dont la durée moyenne de survie est de 12 à 18 mois. Il a défié cette projection, vivant jusqu’au 7 janvier 2020.
Alex Lifeson a raconté à Rolling Stone que, le jour de son anniversaire, il a reçu un rare appel de Neil sur FaceTime avant son opération.
C’était tellement inhabituel de recevoir un appel de sa part, parce qu’il n’était jamais à l’aise au téléphone. Il envoyait de magnifiques e-mails, mais il n’aimait pas particulièrement parler aux gens. J’étais en état de choc, je sentais qu’il y avait quelque chose de bizarre. Il n’avait pas l’air d’être comme d’habitude. J’ai continué à y penser les jours suivant notre appel.
Environ deux semaines plus tard, Neil a révélé son diagnostic à ses camarades de longue date par e-mail. Geddy Lee a expliqué :
Il a fini par nous le dire : “J’ai une tumeur au cerveau. Je ne plaisante pas”.
M. Lifeson se remémore avoir vu le message sur le terrain de golf, ajoutant :
J’ai commencé à pleurer au plein milieu du terrain.
Alex a noté que Neil a demandé qu’ils gardent ses problèmes de santé privés.
Il voulait juste être tranquille. La dernière chose au monde qu’il voulait, c’était que des gens s’assoient sur son trottoir ou dans son allée et chantent Closer to the Heart ou quelque chose comme ça. C’était une grande peur pour lui. Il ne voulait pas du tout de cette attention. Ça a été très difficile de mentir aux gens ou de cacher les faits de quelque manière que ce soit.
L’interview décrit une “incertitude” tout au long de la lutte contre le cancer de Neil, y compris une période de rémission précoce avant le retour de la maladie. Et malgré la progression de l’état de Neil, des amis ont répandu des rumeurs selon lesquelles le batteur avait été confiné à un fauteuil roulant et était incapable de parler.
M. Lee se souvient de Neil comme étant joyeux dans ses derniers jours, évitant le sujet de la maladie et se délectant de vieilles histoires avec ses camarades du groupe lors de leurs visites.
Il ne voulait pas perdre le temps qu’il lui restait à parler de ce genre de choses. Il voulait s’amuser avec nous, et il voulait parler de choses sincères jusqu’à la fin.
