Battle beast sort l'album "Steel" le 27 janvier 2012, ressorti serait plus juste car il est sorti en 2011 sur un tout petit label et Nuclear Blast le ressort avec bien plus de moyens et de pub

Battle Beast. Voilà un nom qui doit évoquer quelque chose aux amateurs de Nightwish puisque ce groupe va accompagner les finlandais lors de leur prochaine tournée.
Battle Beast est un groupe finlandais aussi qui s’est fait connaître notamment en gagnant la finale du Metal Battle à Wacken en 2010 (compétition regroupant les groupes non signés) et s’est ainsi fait remarquer par le label Nuclear Blast. Il faut d’ailleurs préciser que cet album a déjà été publié dans le courant 2011 sur un tout petit label et bénéficie donc d’une distribution plus importante aujourd’hui, juste avant la tournée avec Nightwish.
Mais à part cette tournée commune, la nationalité et le fait que Battle Beast soit aussi un "groupe à chanteuse", le parallèle avec Nightwish s'arrête là car musicalement, on en est assez loin. Battle Beast, c'est du Heavy Metal traditionnel, bien typé eighties avec du chant féminin. Ca, c'est pour situer le décor car c'est évidemment un peu plus que ça. Mais, en gros, ça définit pas trop mal le groupe.
D'ailleurs, quand je dis chant féminin, ne vous attendez pas à écouter une diva. La demoiselle, Nitte Valo, a une voix plutôt agressive, c’est un peu un Udo Dirkschneider au féminin si vous voyez le genre... et puis, elle est parfois relayée par du chant masculin, celui du guitariste Anton, assez influencé par Udo lui aussi par moments (Die-Hard Warrior, Armageddon Clan, Victory).
On passera rapidement sur le nom du groupe et la pochette, hyper clichés tous les deux. Dès les premières notes du disque, on est plongé vingt-cinq ans en arrière. Du riff Heavy Metal hyper basique, des gros chœurs sur le refrain, un solo bien Metal, des "Oh Oh Oh" à la reprise du couplet après le solo… Enter the Metal World, ça s’appelle . Titre on ne peut plus explicite. Aucun cliché n’est évité et pourtant… Pourtant, je ne vais pas vous faire le coup du "c’est du déjà fait, déjà vu donc inutile". Pas cette fois-ci en tout cas. Car il faut reconnaître qu’à l’écoute de cet album, on découvre une jeune formation sous influence, certes, mais qui a un sens de la composition non négligeable. Il y a notamment une poignée de titres particulièrement bien torchés (Justice and Metal, Steel, Die-Hard Warrior, Cyberspace, Show Me How To Die) dont les refrains font mouche dès la première écoute.
On passe ainsi en revue pas mal de groupes phares des eighties. On ne va pas tous les mentionner mais Steel a un petit côté Accept, avec du synthé en plus. The Band of the Hawk, avec ses chœurs masculins, fait un peu penser à du Manowar. Les deux guitaristes, Anton et Juuso, ont tout appris de leurs glorieux aînés et ont l’art du riff efficace et du solo pas inutile et inspiré. Quelquefois, les synthés envahissent l’espace (Die Hard Warrior, Iron Hand), donnant à ces compos un petit quelque chose du Europe / Bon Jovi des années 80. Ça sonne un peu kitch mais ça reste suffisamment heavy pour ne pas tomber dans le ridicule. Bravo pour la performance !
Comme quasiment à chaque fois avec ce genre de groupes, il y a une ballade pleurnicharde, Savage and Saint, qui arrive comme un cheveu sur la soupe et qui casse le rythme endiablé de cet album. Heureusement, le solo déménage. Dommage, mais ce sera la seule (petite) faute de goût. Car la force de ce groupe, c’est définitivement des titres Heavy, concis et percutants.


Un album rempli d’hymnes à la gloire du Metal des années 80. Simple et efficace et surtout agréable à écouter.
Battle Beast va avoir la belle opportunité de toucher un public énorme en ouvrant pour la tournée de Nightwish. Avec de tels titres et une telle énergie, ils devraient assez facilement retenir l’attention d’un public qui n’aura pas fait le déplacement pour eux.
On pourrait très bien en reparler assez rapidement, de ces petits jeunes.

Ce sont les finlandais de Battle Beast qui assureront la première partie de Sonata Arctica sur leur tournée européenne. Voilà qui va en réjouir certains, et notamment les personnes qui les ont découvert sur la tournée de Nightwish!

Le 3ème opus intitulé Unholy Savior sortira le 9 janvier 2015 :

Finnish female-fronted metallers BATTLE BEAST will release their third studio album, "Unholy Savior", on January 9, 2015 in Europe and January 13, 2015 in the U.S. via Nuclear Blast.

"I thirst to go further as a human being and the music on this album represents a part of the ongoing spiritual journey — that's what I tend to I call it — which is my road onward," says BATTLE BEAST guitarist and vocalist Anton Kabanen. "Music-wise, the songs have been expanded to a wider area as an effort to call out emotions close to those I myself had during the times of birth of these songs."

He adds: "Like always, I wrote songs about the series 'Berserk', as well, and the reason behind writing songs about that particular series is that I can strongly relate to that, especially to certain characters and to their way of thinking and feeling."

BATTLE BEAST will embark on a European tour with Swedish metallers SABATON in January.

BATTLE BEAST's self-titled sophomore album entered the official chart in the band's home country of Finland at position No. 5. Released in Europe on May 17, 2013 via Nuclear Blast Records, the CD was produced and mixed by the band at JKB Studios in Helsinki and mastered by Mika Jussila at Finnvox Studios. The cover artwork was created by Claudio Bergamin (HALFORD, ARJEN A. LUCASSEN, MAGICA).

BATTLE BEAST in 2012 parted ways with lead singer Nitte Vänskä and replaced her with Noora Louhimo.

In an interview with Metal Divas, Noora explained how she ended up fronting BATTLE BEAST: "[In] September [2012], I got a call from Anton [Kabanen, guitar] that they want me to join BATTLE BEAST. I had heard their music and loved the sound and the vocals, so the next day I called Anton and said I'm in.

"Anton found me by accident on YouTube when he was searching for the new vocalist. He had been looking for a vocalist — male or female; [it did not] matter. The only thing that mattered was can that [he or she could] sing his songs without compromises.

"I've been singing since I was 4 years old. While being a huge fan of heavy metal of '80s and a teenager, I had some classical singing lessons when I was 16 years old. Then at the age of 19, I started studying music in pop/jazz line. At the same time, I started doing some jam sessions at bars. There I found my first band (ADMIRAL OCTOPUS) in the blues bar. We used to play rock and blues music from '60s-'70s and Janis Joplin was the reason I got the rasp in my voice. After ADMIRAL OCTOPUS, in 2011, I took part in a singing competition ('Wanna Be A Rock 'N' Roll Star') at Henry's Pub of Tampere and won it with Janis Joplin's 'Piece Of My Heart'. That's how my single 'Relax' was born."

BATTLE BEAST's debut album, "Steel" — which was originally released in Finland in 2011 via Hype Records — was made available internationally on January 27, 2012 through Nuclear Blast Records.

Mauvaise nouvelle :
Le groupe se sépare de son guitariste et principal compositeur Anton Kabanen. Il sera remplacé par un autre guitariste pour les prochaines dates du groupe.

"Finnish female-fronted metallers BATTLE BEAST have parted ways with lead guitarist and main songwriter Anton Kabanen due to "insurmountable disagreements" with the other members of the band. A substitute guitarist has already been enlisted for BATTLE BEAST's upcoming shows, beginning with dates in Finland this March. Kabanen is going to continue making music and working on new projects. The remaining members of BATTLE BEAST are already preparing material for their upcoming fourth album.

Speaking to Rumba magazine, Kabanen stated about his exit from BATTLE BEAST: "This has been brewing for quite some time.

"I did not want to leave. The initiative came from the rest of the band, and I am now forced to leave.

"The BATTLE BEAST company owns the name BATTLE BEAST, not me, and there were five guys against me in this company. There was nothing I could do."

According to Kabanen, the split came about as a result of his desire to make music without compromise, and without having to answer to anyone else. The other members of the band did not have "enough musical knowledge" to grasp what he wanted to create. Kabanen wanted to plan everything out to the smallest detail, and the rest of the band wanted to be more involved in the creative process. Therefore a conflict was inevitable.

"Of course there is other stuff, which I'm not ready to talk about," Kabanen added.

"Music is the most important thing in my life. If I can't do it freely and I have to fight in every issue, I can't do it. And when I have to fight for my decisions, it drains the energy. I know that the whole band could have been tighter in every way. Things could have been done better."

Asked what he wanted to say to BATTLE BEAST fans who are undoubtedly baffled by this latest turn of events, Kabanen said: "First of all, a sincere thanks for all the support that the fans and friends have given me. I just hope they will be as interested in my next project. I will continue, of course, making music. That's my whole life."

He continued: "I can't tell you yet what will happen and when. [But it will] probably [be] something [musically] pretty similar [to BATLLE BEAST], [in the] traditional heavy metal [vein]. But now I have more experience and understanding of how things can be done better. I will be careful about how I do things from now on, and how to launch a new band. I believe that it will be better than anything I've done in the past."

The remaning members of BATTLE BEAST did not wish to comment on Kabanen's departure from the group."
