"La plus grande réunion de l’Histoire du Rock"
Ce sont les termes employés par le fondateur de Rolling Stone, Jann S. Wenner, pour parler des deux jours de concerts qui commémoreront les 25 ans du Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame les 29 et 30 octobre à New York.

Même si tout est affaire de point de vue, force est de reconnaître qu’on ne peut que s’incliner devant le casting débauché pour l’occasion : rien de moins que Bruce Springsteen - avec le E-Street Band -, U2, Metallica, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Crosby, Stills, Nash & friends, Simon & Garfunkel, Eric Clapton... et bien d’autres. L’idée générale de ce monumental show étant de retracer l’histoire du rock selon 8 segments, chacun mené par une tête d’affiche. Ainsi, Crosby, Stills & Nash joueront avec plusieurs artistes californiens, Metallica emmènera la partie hard-rock, Stevie Wonder et Aretha Franklin conduiront des segments soul... Le but évident des producteurs et des organisateurs : donner lieu à l’un des plus grands concerts de rock de l’histoire. "Ce sera véritablement le plus grand événement jamais vu au Hall of Fame. Et l’un des plus captivants concerts jamais réalisés", lance Joel Peresman, président de la fondation du Hall of Fame.

Les concerts auront lieu au Madison Square Garden de New York les 29 et 30 octobre prochains. La vente des billets débutera le 27 juillet, les bénéfices serviront à la création d’un fonds permanent pour le Hall Of Fame. Les nombreux malheureux qui ne pourront pas se rendre sur place pourront toujours se consoler puisqu’un montage des concerts sera diffusé sur HBO dans un premier temps.

Un coffret 9 DVD est également prévu pour le mois d’août (aux USA pour le moment), incluant les meilleurs moments des différentes cérémonies d’introduction de ces 25 dernières années, dont quelques performances inédites

"Alice Cooper, Tom Waits, Neil Diamond and Donovan et Bon Jovi font partie des prétendants au Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, ils rejoindront LL Cool J, Beastie Boys et Donna Summer, déjà nommés.
Les vainqueurs seront connus en décembre lors de la cérémonie officielle à New York au Waldorf Astoria le 14 mars.
L'année dernière, The Stooges, Genesis, The Hollies, ABBA et Jimmy Cliff avaitent été élus, devant les Red Hot Chili Peppers et Kiss.

Pearl Jam, Journey and the Electric Light Orchestra lead the nominees for induction into the 2017 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

The Cleveland-based institution revealed the full list of 19 artists on Tuesday, which also includes The Cars, Jane’s Addiction and Yes, among others.

To be eligible for nomination, an individual artist or band must have released its first single or album at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination.

2017 marks the first year of eligibility for Pearl Jam and Tupac Shakur, and first nominations for Bad Brains, Depeche Mode, Electric Light Orchestra, Jane’s Addiction, Joan Baez, Journey and Steppenwolf; Yes snagged their third listing, the J. Geils Band and Kraftwerk picked up a fourth ballot mention, Joe Tex a fifth, and Chic a record-setting 11th appearance.

Ballots will be sent to an international voting body of more than 800 artists, historians and members of the music industry.

For the fifth year in a row, fans can have a say in the process: from now to December 6, fans can cast votes for their favorites. The top five artists selected by the public will comprise a “fan’s ballot” that will be tallied along with the other votes to choose the 2017 inductees.

The 2017 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductees will be announced in December; the ceremony will take place in New York in April with more details to be announced.

Il faudra qu'on m'explique ce que cette "institution" considère comme étant du rock ?

T.Rex c'est normal. Ils auraient dû passer avant Pearl Jam par exemple, qui fut nominé dès sa première année d'éligibilité, puisqu'il faut avoir au moins 25 ans de carrière pour être éligible.
Maintenant, que NIN passe avant Thin Lizzy, Rory Gallagher, Motörhead et Judas Priest prouve bien que nous avons affaire à un truc ricain qui plébiscite avant tout ce qui marche, ou a marché, dans le billboard, davantage que l'impact musical qu'on pu avoir les artistes injustement oubliés.

Et les aberrations continuerons. Je suis sûr que Nickelback ou Limp Bizkit auront leur place avant les quatre groupes mythiques que j'ai cité plus haut

Je serai bref

J'ai bien aimé l'attitude de Mark Knopfler, qui n'a pas trouvé utile de se déplacer pour l'intronisation de Dire Straits. Il a donc zappé la cérémonie car il se fout totalement de ce truc, et n'a pas supporté qu'on lui dise :"tu viendras à telle heure; tu feras ton discours en n'oubliant pas de remercier l'institution et enfin tu joueras ça, ça et ça" !
Knopfler leur a donc répondu comme Kilou, à savoir Bien joué Mark
