Je les ai vu en concert cette année. Du coup je pense me prendre l'album.

Le nouveau chanteur est un bon clone d'Anderson jeune. Même timbre de voix, même délicatesse.
Il manque un peu de puissance et de lyrisme. On ne peut pas tout avoir...



J'étais content d'avoir Close to the Edge, Going for the One et The Yes Album en live.
Howe et Squire assurent toujours. C'est impressionnant.

Yes was firing on all cylinders in the fall of 1972. The prog-rock pioneers’ fifth studio album Close To The Edge was a smash success as audiences around the world packed arenas to see the legendary group perform. The band captured the magic of that tour on its first live album, Yessongs. Released in 1973, the triple-LP sold over a million copies and blew minds with Roger Dean’s iconic artwork.

The band recently discovered recordings of seven complete concerts from the weeks leading up to the shows heard on Yessongs. The latest audio technology was used to restore the reel-to-reel recordings and bring out incredible sonic detail, creating an open, immediate sound that drops listeners right into the front row.

Rhino has assembled three new releases featuring previously unreleased music included on these newly discovered tapes.
YES – PROGENY: SEVEN SHOWS FROM SEVENTY-TWO is a 14-disc set that holds every note from all seven shows, recorded in the fall of 1972 as the band’s tour jumped from Canada to North Carolina, and then Georgia and Tennessee, before their last stop in New York at Nassau Coliseum on November 20th. This comprehensive set comes in a cigarette-style flip top box with new artwork by Roger Dean. It will be released on 19 May 2015 and is available to preorder from Amazon today.
YES – PROGENY: HIGHLIGHTS FROM SEVENTY-TWO includes 90 minutes of live recordings selected from various shows. Available on two CDs or three LPs, the music flows like a typical setlist from the tour as it spotlights standout performances from different cities. The set will be released on 19 May 2015 and is available for preorder from Amazon today on 2 x CD or 3 x LP vinyl.

This was Yes’ first tour with drummer Alan White, who’s been with the band ever since. He replaced Bill Bruford, who recorded Close To The Edge before leaving to join King Crimson. White only had three days to learn the band’s live show before his first night on stage with Jon Anderson (vocals), Steve Howe (guitar), Chris Squire (bass) and Rick Wakeman (keyboards).

Recorded three months into the tour, these powerful performances attest to how quickly the new line-up came together musically as they navigate hits like “Roundabout,” and complex pieces like “And You and I.” Even though the setlist didn’t vary much from night to night, the individual performances are strikingly different.

J'aurais préféré des concerts de la tournée Tales From Topographic Oceans, de loin, car cette tournée n'est pas encore représentée officiellement, si je ne m'abuse. Et c'est bien une des rares dans ce cas.
On sait bien que TFTO, ce n'est pas le rayon de crèmerie préféré de Sankukaï Wakeman, mais quand même...
Il y en a marre de s'envoyer des boots pourris pour revivre ça ! Tales est très haut au dessus de tout ce que Yes a enregistré pour moi, cet album est magique !
Enfin, ne boudons pas notre plaisir, 1972 c'est très bien aussi.

La nouvelle vient de tomber : Chris Squire serait atteint d'une leucémie. Il est remplacé temporairement par Billy Sherwood pour la tournée d'été.

Founding YES bassist Chris Squire has been diagnosed with a form of leukemia called acute erythroid leukemia. As a result, he will be forced to miss the group's tour this summer for the first time to receive medical treatment in Phoenix, where he resides. He will be temporarily replaced by Billy Sherwood, who played guitar and keyboards as a touring member of YES in 1994 and as a full member from 1997 to 2000.

"This will be the first time since the band formed in 1968 that YES will have performed live without me," the 67-year-old Squire said in a statement. "But the other guys and myself have agreed that Billy Sherwood will do an excellent job of covering my parts and the show as a whole will deliver the same YES experience that our fans have come to expect over the years."

YES's co-headlining North American tour with TOTO will kick off on August 7 in Mashantucket, Connecticut.

As previously reported, Frontiers Music Srl will release "Like It Is - Yes At The Mesa Arts Center", a new concert recording from YES, on July 3 in Europe and July 10 in North America.

Available in 2CD/DVD, Blu-ray and digital formats, with a later release planned on vinyl too, this new live album, which follows a similar path to the successful release "Like It Is – Yes At The Bristol Hippodrome", sees two of the band's signature albums, 1971's "Fragile" and 1972's "Close To The Edge", performed live in their entirety on the band's 2014 world tour.

Chris Squire vient de mourir à l'âge de 67 ans des suites de sa leucémie. Putain de bordel. Tout fout le camp. Un des grands de la basse britannique, pour sûr ! Heureusement la musique reste, éternelle.

Yes they can! YES will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the Class of 2017, it was announced this morning. The induction, following two previous nominations, will occur one year shy of the legendary progressive rock band’s 50th anniversary.

“What an honor this is for us and all involved with the history of this band,” shares guitarist Steve Howe. “We thank all the Yes fans who have been so passionate over the decades, and helped us to keep the flag flying. It is the fans who have constantly demanded our inclusion. They have been heard.”

“We look forward to accepting this esteemed award next spring in honor of our fallen brother, Chris Squire, who would have been delighted to see his musical vision finally receive such recognition,” adds drummer Alan White. “We thank everyone who voted for YES. We’ll see you soon, Cleveland!”

The members of YES who will officially be inducted into the Rock Hall are the ‘UNION‘ tour line-up: current members White and Howe, the band’s late bassist and founding member Chris Squire, and former members Jon Anderson (vocals), Bill Bruford (drums), Tony Kaye (keyboards), Rick Wakeman (keyboards) and Trevor Rabin (guitar).

“YES was like my first girlfriend, to whom I was hopelessly committed,” says Bruford. “Despite a couple of wrinkles, I’m glad to hear the old girl is in fine shape.”

Kaye confirms, “I am honored to be included in YES’ induction. I am delighted for my friends in the band, and I salute Chris, without whom it would never have happened. Chris would have been so very proud.”

In addition to Steve Howe and Alan White, YES’ current line-up includes Geoff Downes (keyboards; first joined in 1980), Jon Davison (vocals since 2011) and Billy Sherwood (guitar/keyboards in the 1990s and Chris Squire’s choice to take over bass/vocals in 2015).

YES featuring Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin, Rick Wakeman: 100 Show World Tour
The 100 show World Tour will commence on June 3rd 2018 in Warsaw, Poland, and feature shows in Scandinavia, Germany, UK (including headlining the Stone Free Festival at the O2 Arena in London) and North America in 2018, going on to South America, Central and Southern Europe, ending in Japan and the Far East in 2019.
Whisky A Go Go Concert
YES Featuring Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin, Rick Wakeman will return to their roots by performing at the Whisky a Go Go, the iconic venue they first performed as a headliner in June 1971. Information on tickets to this show will be available at a later date.
US Tour
The band will then play 9 shows in August and September including the Greek Theatre in LA on August 29th and Chicagoland’s Ravinia outside on September 7th before continuing the US Leg with 20+ shows in early 2019. Most dates will be going on-sale starting April 20th.
Quintessential YES 50th Anniversary album and CD
In August, Warner Bros. Records will be releasing an historical 2 CD/3 LP anthology of YES curated by band founder/singer Jon Anderson.
Live CD & DVD
There will also be released in August/September by Eagle Rock a Live CD and DVD of the band’s show from March 2017 recorded live in Manchester, UK, featuring special mixed in OE Audio by Paul Linford and Trevor Rabin.
New Music
In addition to all of the above, the band are currently hard at work, creating some stellar new recordings for their 50th Anniversary. This will be the first new music in 28 years featuring Jon Anderson/Trevor Rabin/Rick Wakeman together. It is planned these will also be available for release by the end of 2018 or early 2019.
