Pour le cd, je n'aime pas trop ce mélange de live, démos et de versions acoustiques.

The Ultimate Classic Rock, site de news bien connu, a publié il y a trois jours une information erronée concernant la date du tout premier concert de Whitesnake. En effet, le site prétend que celui-ci prétend a eu lieu au Sky Bird Club de Nottingham le 23 février 1978 :

On Feb. 23, 1978, Whitesnake, led by former Deep Purple singer David Coverdale, performed their first concert at the Sky Bird Club in Nottingham, U.K.

Neil Murray rétorque sur Facebook en affirmant que celui-ci s'est passé le 3 mars 1978 au Lincoln Technical College. Le concert du Sky Bird Club avait été annulé parce que la scène était trop petite. Du coup, les journalistes se fiant aux différents communiqués de presse, n'avaient pas eu forcément vent à l'époque de cette annulation. Par ailleurs, le van du groupe était tombé en panne sur le chemin de retour vers Londres ce qui fait que le groupe est arrivé à bon port au petit matin. A noter également qur le claviériste était Brian Johnson (rien à voir avec le chanteur d'AC/DC) et non Pete Solley qui rejoignit le groupe en avril 1978.

Unfortunately this is incorrect! Whitesnake played our first show at Lincoln Technical College on 3rd March 1978. Nottingham Sky Bird Club was cancelled because the stage was too small, I think, but the gig was already listed in ads and press releases, so journalists take it as read that it was our first show. Our van broke down on the way back to London, so we didn't get home until dawn!

Also, the keyboard player was Brian Johnson, not Pete Solley, who joined in April 1978.

David Coverdale déplore le fait que certains de ses anciens collègues ne puissent faire abstraction des rancunes d'hier. En effet, Micky Moody ne tient pas à ce que cela change. Notons au passage que l'interview donnée récemment par Micky Moody à Rock Hard allait dans ce sens. Le vocaliste a quand même signifié qu'il voulait faire la paix avec tous ceux avec qui il a été en désaccord même avec Ritchie Blackmore.

Whitesnake mainman David Coverdale has offered his account of how guitarist Micky Moody left the band – and regrets the fact they can’t put the bad memories behind them.

The singer says he’s trying to make peace with all those he’s disagreed with in the past, including former Deep Purple colleague Ritchie Blackmore. But he reveals that Moody hasn’t accepted the offer to shake his hand.

Moody was a member of the David Coverdale Band, which recorded the White Snake album in 1977. He remained on board as the outfit transformed into Whitesnake but departed in 1983 following the recording of Slide It In and appearing on its associated tour.

Coverdale tells Rock Guitar Daily: “With Slide It In I wanted to electrify Whitesnake more. Micky was very unhappy when we were doing this.

“I’d put Whitesnake on hold at the end of 1981, and Micky didn’t even bother coming to the meeting we had. He had a more important engagement – a darts match at the local pub.

“A couple of months later, I get a call from him saying, ‘Look, I’ve seen the error of my ways – can I come back?’ I said, ‘Absolutely!’ Because I was starting a sold-out UK tour in three weeks, and I didn’t have a band. I had Cozy Powell and that was it.

“So he came back in, but he really wasn’t invested or engaged in the writing process for the Slide It In album, as you can see on the writing credits. When we were doing the actual album you could see that he wasn’t having a good time.

“When his manager called me and shared the same information, I said, ‘Well, you guys do what you want; I’m moving forward with this.’ And that was the end.”

Moody now leads Snakecharmer, featuring fellow ex-Whitesnake man Neil Murray. Their self-titled debut album is released on March 25.

But Coverdale has failed in his efforts to make peace with the guitarist. He says: “Recently I reached out to Micky through his manager, to shake his hand. But he feels there’s too much water under the bridge, and presumably he would rather not shake my hand. It’s disappointing.”

The singer wants to clear the air after a year in which he lost an aunt, a brother-in-law and Deep Purple keyboardist Jon Lord. “It’s just not worthwhile carrying the excess emotional baggage of grudges or negative energy,” he says. “There is just no room for it in my life.

“I’m reaching out – Ritchie Blackmore and I are communicating in the most positive way, and I truly appreciate that. Life is too short to hold a grudge.”

Whitesnake release live DVD Made In Japan on April 22. It was filmed in October 2011 during the band’s Forevermore world tour.

Il veut faire la paix, le Cov' ? Après avoir fait royalement chier Micky Moody par le biais de procès au moment de l'utilisation de The Snakes et The Company Of Snakes, que peut-il attendre comme réaction de la part de ce dernier si ce n'est celle qu'il adopte actuellement ?

Micky Moody répond à DC en tablant sur le fait qu'il se devait de répondre à DC tout en insistant qu'il ne souhaite pas retravailler avec DC. Je préfère continuer ce que je fais aujourd'hui de la manière la plus digne qui soit. Il termine en disant qu'il lui souhaite plein de bonnes choses pour la suite....et beaucoup de bonheur.

The former bandmates parted company in 1983 following the recording and touring of Whitesnake’s Slide It In album. Coverdale recently said he’d tried to make contact with Moody to settle their differences, but the the guitarist “feels there’s too much water under the bridge, and presumably he would rather not shake my hand.”

Now Moody has responded to the comments. He tells Classic Rock: “I’ve just been alerted to an article on Classic Rock‘s news page which reads ‘Micky Moody won’t shake my hand.’ Although it pales into insignificance when placed alongside Ozzy’s ‘I bit the head of a bat’ show-stopper, I feel I should respond that I have my own reasons for not wishing to re-establish a working relationship.

“To set the record straight, the reporting of comments regarding my return to Whitesnake in 1983 are somewhat inaccurate.

“Beyond this, I prefer not to discuss in the public domain – although, for avoidance of any doubt, my time with Whitesnake and the legacy of those halcyon days are forever part of my very soul. I also prefer, as always, to let my fingers do the talking; as experience has taught me that it’s the proper and most dignified way to do things.

“I wish David all happiness and fulfilment.”

Moody now leads Snakecharmer, which features fellow ex-Whitesnake man Neil Murray alongside Laurie Wisefield (Wishbone Ash), Adam Wakeman (Ozzy Osbourne), Harry James (Thunder) and Chris Ousey (Heartland). They release their self-titled debut album earlier this year, and a vinyl edition goes on sale on March 25. Whitesnake will release live DVD Made In Japan on April 22.

Sinon, le Snake envisage de sortir un deuxième album live intitulé Made In Britain parce qu'à priori DC considère qu'ils sont "radicalement différents". En fin d'année sortira un coffret Forevermore-The Collection avec des outtakes et des alternate versions :

David Coverdale: Because they're both extremely different. We didn't plan the Japanese project. You know, the Japanese tour was booked and we were invited to headline at Loud Park and I hadn't headlined a Japanese music festival since 1984, so that was a very exciting premise for me. They made a very generous offer and then asked if they could film three songs for a TV special. We said OK and my co-producers, Doug Aldrich and Michael McIntyre, and I, mixed the three songs and obviously watching the video and going crazy. It looked fantastic and we had them send over the rest of the footage and thought, "This could be a fabulous follow-up to 'Still Of The Night'.". And where we are now, featuring new songs for the first time. The record company we work with, Frontiers, they were absolutely positive in their response, so we added that to the mix. What we're doing with the "Made In Britain" CD, is giving it a different sonic identity. The CD from "Made In Japan" is a soundtrack and the bonus stuff features behind-the-scenes, soundcheck stuff we recorded in different Japanese venues. Having fun with some our songs, like trying an unplugged version of "Good To Be Bad" and "Tell Me How" from the "Forevermore" album. Stuff that people normally don't get to hear. For the second CD, it's "WHITESNAKE the world record." We're taking songs from all over different cities, like Oslo and there might be a Sweden Rock. I'm not sure if we legally can do that. Stuff from Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Rio. It's two entirely different projects, and for the end of the year, we're hoping to achieve a limited-edition box set for Christmas, called "Forevermore - The Complete Collection", which will have everything "Forevermore"-related plus outtakes, alternate mixes, acoustic versions of songs, behind-the-scenes footage. Really cool stuff. It's fascinating, Niclas, because "Forevermore" is an extraordinary jewel in the WHITESNAKE catalog. It still got legs, as they say. It's still selling significant records, and now I'm involved in a daily exercise called Twitter. A lot of people didn't know WHITESNAKE was still going because a lot of people still don't search the Internet or listen to music and they feel they've grown out of music, but then discovering that we're still playing and not only that, but flourishing as a positive force. It's amazing, so people are checking out "Good To Be Bad" and "Forevermore" since the first of January. Everything just keeps igniting the next wave of enthusiasm for WHITESNAKE, which is a great feeling.

This is 2 CDs, and Disc 1 "Made In Britain" includes the best takes of the shows in Britain in June, 2011 and Disc 2 "The World Record" includes the rare tracks from the shows in Europe and America on the "Forevermore" tour.
