TOUR DATES WITH SANTANA AND LYNYRD SKYNYRD

The Allman Brothers Band have added six co-headlining dates with Carlos Santana to their summer tour itinerary. They’ve also beefed up their road schedule with one-off festival dates, including their very own Peach Festival, held in Scranton, Pa. Dates with moe. and Lynyrd Skynyrd are also on deck. The Allmans will remain busy and on the road during the hot months, just as they like it.

“We’ve all wanted to do this for a very long time,” said Gregg Allman about the trek with Santana. “It’s been a long time coming and the whole band is looking forward to what’s gonna happen on stage together.”

Santana himself echoed their excitement, saying, “It is a delight and an honor to finally share the stage, and the music, with Gregg Allman, Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes and the Allman Brothers Band.” He continued, “This is something that we’ve hoped to make happen for many years.”

Sounds like their patience paid off.

On annonce la sortie imminente de deux albums live. L'un fut enregistré à Macon en Géorgie le 11 février 1972 et l'autre au Nassau Coliseum de NY le 1er mai 1973 :

The Allman Brothers Band have announced the upcoming release of two high-quality vintage recordings of their early incarnations.

The band - one of rock’s most iconic live acts and members of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and recipients of a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award - historically recorded many of their live shows and are selectively releasing their personal choices through the band’s Allman Brothers Band Recording Company label, distributed through Entertainment One Music.

The February 12th releases include two especially unique shows. The February 11th, 1972 concert in their Macon, GA hometown is the Allman Brothers Band’s first show there after the death of founding guitarist Duane Allman, and features the group as a five-piece with all original members: keyboardist Gregg Allman, drummers Butch Trucks and Jaimo, bassist Berry Oakley and guitarist Dickey Betts. Never-before-heard in the bootleg market, the Macon performance showed the band in ferocious form, just two months before their legendary "Eat A Peach" live album was released.

The band’s May 1st, 1973 show at Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, NY marked a much different line-up for the Allman Brothers Band.

Keyboardist Chuck Leavell (who would later go on to The Rolling Stones) had joined the group in mid-1972 just before founding bassist Berry Oakley’s untimely death. Jaimoe’s childhood friend, Lamar Williams, was chosen to replace Oakley six months prior to the Nassau recording. Four songs from this set had not appeared on any of the previous live or archival releases: “Come & Go Blues”, “Wasted Words”, “Jessica” and “Ramblin’ Man”. Like the 2/11/72 Macon show, this concert is from a two-track reel-to-reel soundboard master tape.

We will be forever grateful for the opportunity and the experience, and for the love, enthusiasm, and support of the incredible fans. We are both preparing to dig even deeper into our various creative and musical endeavors and, as a result, 2014 will be our final year as part of the band. Warren Haynes a surpris les fans du Allman Brothers Band en annonçant son départ pour la fin de l'année. Cette décision remet le futur du groupe en question, mais Haynes affirme ne pas partir sur un coup de tête

"Ce n'est pas une grosse surprise, nous en parlons depuis longtemps..." Haynes fait partie du groupe depuis 1989, il s’est éclipsé entre 1997–2000, pour former son groupe Gov't Mule. Il a sorti 10 albums et fait plusieurs tournées, Haynes souhaite de nouveau se concentrer sur Gov't Mule, et passer plus de temps en famille.

"Mes amis dans ce groupe ont beaucoup d'importance pour moi, je suis sûr que nous nous retrouverons avec Gregg pour de nouveaux projets dans le futur." Mais il ne tourne pas définitivement la page : "C'est le bon moment pour arrêter, mais je ne peux rien présager de l'avenir."

Un membre de l'équipe du film biographique intitulé Midnight Rider et consacré à Gregg Allman a été tué après qu'un train ait passé contre toute attente un pont alors qu'une scène était en train d'être tournée.

WSAV 3 rapporte que sept autres personnes ont été blessées dans l'accident qui s'est produit à Wayne County dans l'état de Géorgie. Le nom des victimes n'a pas été divulgué au moment de la publication de cet article. Selon Variety (Variety est un magazine américain consacré à l'industrie du spectacle fondé par Sime Silverman), l'équipe de tournage avait placé un lit sur la voie de chemin de fer pour filmer une scène de rêve. Ils ont appris selon certaines sources que deux autres trains avaient été planifiés pour passer le pont mais l'arrivée surprise d'un troisième convoi leur a donnés moins d'une minute pour être en sécurité.

Une assistante du cameraman a été happée et tuée par le train. Le Lit a été également percuté par la locomotive et les débris ont blessé les sept membres de l'équipe de tournage mentionnés plus haut. L'un d'eux a été sérieusement blessé et transféré par hélicoptère vers l'hôpital local.

Le rapport fait état que le metteur en scène Randall Miller a failli être percuté par le train au moment où il est tombé sur la voie alors qu'il essayait de dégager la scène de tournage. Heureusement, un photographe l'a tiré vers lui. Aucune indication ne signale la présence de Gregg Allman au moment de l'accident.

Techniquement, il est effectivement très bon. Ceci dit, pourrait-il s'intégrer au sein d'un groupe que l'on qualifie de "jam band" ?
