Robert Plant et son nouveau groupe

Robert Plant et les Sensational Space Shifters donneront leur premier concert en tête d’affiche du festival international Womad du Royaume-Uni, qui aura lieu cette année du 27 au 29 juillet au Charlton Park de Malmesbury dans le Wiltshire et célèbrera son trentième anniversaire.

Outre l’ex-leader de Led Zeppelin, ce nouveau groupe comprend des membres de son ancienne formation Strange Sensation, ainsi que Justin Adams avec lequel il collabore régulièrement. Ils décrivent leur musique comme tirant son origine du Mississippi, des Appalaches, de Gambie, de Bristol et des contreforts de Wolverhampton.

C’est en 1982 qu’a été créé par Peter Gabriel le festival Womad, acronyme de World of Music, Arts and Dance.

Donc Robert tient les manettes spatiales. Tiens nous au courant s'il prévoit des concerts en France.

Plant will play at the Forum in London on 12 July with his new band.

Tickets for the new show are on sale tomorrow at 9am.

The Sensational Space Shifters make their debut next week in Gloucester at a sold out show at the town's Guildhall. They are also due to appear at the Womad Festival in July.

Deux autres dates sont annoncées : une la semaine prochaine au Town Guildhall de Gloucester et le Womad Festival en juillet.

Robert Plant apparaît sur le DVD Rockwell enregistré durant le concert de charité à l'O2 Arena de Londres en septembre 2009 pour la fondation Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy. Il y interprète trois titres : Black Dog, Fixin' To Die et Whole Lotta Love. Ce DVD sortira le 28 mai :

Plant is one of the performers on the new concert DVD, Rockwell, which was filmed at the O2 Arena in London in September 2009.

On the disc he performs Black Dog, Fixin To Die and Whole Lotta Love.

Other performers on the DVD are Razorlight, Joss Stone and Tom Jones.

The DVD is out now, and the Blu Ray is released on 28 May.

"Robert Plant & The Band Of Joy: Live From The Artists Den" will be released on DVD and Blu Ray on July 10.

The band was filmed at Nashville's War Memorial Auditorium for the music TV series.

The DVD includes performances of three Led Zeppelin classics - "Black Dog," "Houses Of the Holy" and "Tangerine" - that were not part of the initial broadcast on public television stations.

Other songs included that did not make the initial cut are "In the Mood" from his solo disc "Principle of Moments," and the traditional "I Bid You Good Night."

The DVD features bonus interview clips as well.

In the liner notes, Plant writes "Some years back I was propelled by chance, with little planning or expectation into an American way…with a lean and pull into a new direction…voices and harmony, restraint and explosion, tight and loose, great joy in great company… in a blizzard in Nashville."

L'événement était de taille jeudi soir à Londres car Robert Plant était de retour sur scène après avoir dissous le Band of Joy il y a à peine 10 mois. Les 2.300 places du HMV Forum de Kentish Town ayant été vendues en une heure, le fronton de l'édifice affichait fièrement un "Sold Out" lumineux en lettres rouges.

L'événement était de taille ce soir à Londres car Robert Plant était de retour sur scène après avoir dissous le Band of Joy il y a à peine 10 mois. Les 2.300 places du HMV Forum de Kentish Town ayant été vendues en une heure, le fronton de l'édifice affichait fièrement un "Sold Out" lumineux en lettres rouges. Après deux heures d'attente à socialiser sous la pluie (certains y dansent bien) les portes s'ouvrent enfin, coudes au corps j'accède aux étages et m'installe plein centre au 1er rang du 1er balcon. Une rambarde bien solide devant moi me permet de déposer mon téléphone mobile muni d'une caméra... ;-) No comments! Ce n'est tout de même pas ma faute si certains fabricants incluent des applications technologiques haut de gamme dans leurs appareils de communication série 4 S!

Robert Plant a déjà tout fait pense t’on, alors pourra t-il encore nous surprendre, innover? La réponse est oui, 1000 fois oui car bien qu'il n'y ait aucune nouvelle composition au programme le choix du répertoire et sa relecture donnent des frissons de plaisir instantanés au public et ce n'est pas d'avoir attendu sous la pluie, croyez moi sur parole. Comme à son habitude Robert ose et prend des risques avec les immortels de Led Zeppelin (il nous gratifiera de 5 opus du dirigeable) dont le sublime "Friends" qui est extrêmement rare au répertoire de Monsieur Plant et encore plus rare au répertoire de Led Zeppelin puisque ils ne l'ont joué qu'une seule fois, c’était au KB Hallen de Copenhague le 3 mai 1971. Après les 5 premiers morceaux dont un "Bron-Yr-Aur-Stomp" revitalisé c'est au tour de Patti Griffin (seule rescapée du Band Of Joy) d'avoir son moment de gloire puisque c'est elle qui occupe l'avant de la scène pour interpréter 4 de ses compositions dont un "No Bad News" qui lorgne très fort du côté mandoline de "Going To California" et de "The Battle Of Evermore". Robert se tient en retrait pour assurer les backing vocals, quel luxe! Patti nous avoue être très fière et heureuse de partager la scène avec son chanteur préféré à tel point qu'ils se tiennent parfois la main mais n'allez pas colporter des ragots, je n'affirme rien, je constate simplement.

On repart avec "Black Dog" revu et corrigé en une "nième" version qui n'a besoin d'aucune sollicitation spéciale pour entendre le public scander les célèbres "aah-ah aah-ah" aux moments opportuns. Un passage blues-rock avec un hommage à John Mayal par l'entremise de "I'm Your Witchdoctor". Juldeh Camara (artiste Gambien) à rejoint le groupe et insuffle la couleur et la touche de l'Afrique noire au sein d'un ensemble qui allie avec bonheur toutes les influences nécessaires à la musique. Europe, Afrique et Amérique du Nord réunies en une interaction parfaite entre les 8 musiciens présents sur scène. Tout sonne juste et chaque chanson touche sa cible. Mention spéciale au très beau Medley comprenant quelques autres grands classiques (voir la setlist). Le concert s'achève sur "Another Tribe" suivi d'un "Gallows Pole" très proche de l'époque Page/Plant. On espérait secrètement une apparition en guest de Jimmy Page mais il n'y en eut pas. Les deux compères ont préféré se rejoindre le lendemain pour assister au concert d'Iggy and The Stooges!

On a plus qu'à espérer une suite et un album à ce nouveau super-groupe plus que prometteur!

Robert Plant vient de confirmer SEULEMENT MAINTENANT les rumeurs selon lesquelles il avait épousé la chanteuse folk Patty Griffin l'année dernière :

Robert Plant has confirmed the rumors that he married Patty Griffin last year.

"I eloped and ran off to Texas," the singer tells The Independent. "So now I spend half my time there and half here [in the UK]."

There, the couple lives in what the former Led Zeppelin frontman describes as "an old crack house in Austin," a rented place infested with termites. "I tap my hand on the table and they fly out the walls in this huge cloud, like something from a Disney film."

In spring of 2011, rumors that the two were a couple started with a report by Austin Music Source blog Austin 360, with writer Michael Corcoran describing a passionate make-out session at the baggage claim area of a local airport as Griffin picked up Robert upon his arrival.

Last fall, the two were rumored to be seen around Austin sporting wedding rings, although neither singer had confirmed their status publicly.

Plant and Griffin worked together in the Band Of Joy, who released a live DVD last week.

Bon ça a été démenti. Il ne s'est pas encore marié mais à priori, il s'est enfui ("eloped") à Austin au Texas. Le début du message qui suit est tout de même différent de celui que j'ai diffusé ce matin. Ce qui est cocasse, c'est que le verbe "elope" signifie dans ce contexte "s'enfuir" lorsque l'on veut se marier sans le consentement de ses parents. 63 ans, le gamin !!!!!!!

When Robert Plant said he'd eloped with Patty Griffin, he didn't actually mean he'd married her. That's what a rep for the former Led Zeppelin singer tells the Hollywood Reporter. In an article in the Independent last week, Plant seemed to confirm marriage reports that have been circulating for months.

"Robert has not married Patty Griffin" the rep says, adding that Plant was "just referring to the fact that he's been residing in Texas." Technically to elope is to run away and marry without permission from one's parents. It doesn't seem likely the 63-year-old Plant would have to hide such an arrangement with his Band of Joy bandmate.

Plant and Griffin have been dating for over a year, and they spend half of their time together in Austin, Texas. "I tap my hand on the table and (bugs) fly out the walls in this huge cloud, like something from a Disney film," Plant tells the Independent about their (or maybe just his) modest accommodations.

As previously reported, Plant and Griffin are planning a Band of Joy album for 2013 that will be "far, far out with psychedelic pedal steel and all sorts of stuff." They are also part of a "spacey, trippy" group called the Sensational Shape Shifters, who have been performing this summer.
