Blackmore’s Night will release in North America their new album Dancer and the Moon on June 11 via Frontiers Records. The album will be released in two editions: a regular CD, and a digipak deluxe edition with bonus DVD. The DVD includes music videos of Dancer And The Moon and of The Moon Is Shining (Somewhere Over The Sea), plus an extensive interview with Ritchie Blackmore and Candice Night. A digital single of The Moon Is Shining will be released on May 6.

Take your pick from the songwriting team of Candice and Ritchie: the acoustic ‘Somewhere Over the Sea (The Moon Is Shining)’, the rocking track ‘The Moon Is Shining (Somewhere Over The Sea)’, along with the title track ‘Dancer And The Moon’, the nature-inspired ‘The Last Leaf’ and the Russian-influenced ‘Troika’.

Blackmore’s Night own their versions of classic rock chestnuts: RANDY NEWMAN’s ‘I Think It’s Going to Rain Today’, URIAH HEEP’s ‘Lady In Black’, and ‘The Temple of the King’ that Ritchie and the late RONNIE JAMES DIO collaborated on originally for their band, RAINBOW.

Dancer And The Moon is made complete with its inspiring instrumentals, including the waltzy ‘Galliard’ and the DEEP PURPLE-esque ‘Carry On… Jon’, that Ritchie wrote as a heartfelt tribute to his former band mate, the late Jon Lord.

Dans une interview au journal russe Kultura, Ritchie Blackmore a précisé qu'il serait disposé à interpréter de vieux titres lors de shows spéciaux, à prendre ceci dit avec des pincettes :

"Bien sûr que je suis fier de ce que j'ai écrit dans le passé et je pense même jouer exclusivement 3-4 titres de Deep Purple et de Rainbow, histoire d'apaiser la nostalgie des fans de Blackmore's Night qui continuent d'aimer les albums des 70's et des 80's. Je n'arrêterai jamais ce que je suis en train de faire aujourd'hui, mais de tels concerts pourraient être sympas et constitueraient une sorte de récompense pour mes fans fidèles."

Il n'a fait aucunement référence à qui pourrait participer à ce projet.

In an interview to the Russian newspaper Kultura Ritchie Blackmore mentioned that he would be open to the idea of staging one-off shows shows playing his old material (in reverse translation from Russian, so take it with liberal serving of grains of salt):

Yes, indeed, I’m proud of what I have written in the past, and even thinking of maybe 3-4 shows playing exclusively Deep Purple and Rainbow stuff. Just to appease nostalgic feeling of Blackmore’s Night fans who still enjoy 70-80s recordings. I will never quit what I am doing today, but such concerts could be enjoyable and a sort of a reward to my devoted fans.

There was no mention as to what personalities could be involved in such a project.
