Ce live est furieusement rock' n' roll, pas de frioritures, ça tranche dans le lard et même si Van Zant a l' air un peu fatigué, même si la paire Collins/Rossington est parfois hésitante (Ed King n' avait claqué la porte que depuis 6 mois), c' est du trés très grand SKYNYRD, BIlly Powell est omniprésent (et étincelant, pas de synthé sur "saturday.."piano "honky tonk" à donf) et Artimus Pyle le batteur, imprime un tempo infernal et bien accéléré.
Quel son mes aieux, on se croirait dans un bouge du sud profond !

Alors là, c'est GIGANTESQUE tout simplement!
Le groupe tourne comme une horloge, tout le monde est en grande forme(version de "swet home" d' anthologie, le pied coincé sur l' accélérateur)
et on se dit que dans ces années là, LYNYRD SKYNYRD était surement le meilleur groupe de rock du monde, put... on regrette vraiment que les machines à remonter le temps ne soient toujours pas activées..
Même pas 33€ les 2 live, son fantastique, pratiquement 2 heures de concert, vous savez ce qu' il vous reste à faire les aminches

NEW ALBUM DUE OUT LATER THIS YEAR

worldwide deal with legendary American rock outfit Lynyrd Skynyrd. The
band is already at work in Nashville recording a new album to be
released later this year. This will be the first set of new studio
material since 2003’s Vicious Cycle.

2009

3 mois après la perte de Billy Powell, Lynyrd Skynyrd vient de perdre son dernier bassiste attitré Ean Evans.
Vraiment une sale période pour le groupe.

comme le disait Woody Allen: "Si Dieu existe, j' espère qu' il a de bons arguments..."

Lynyrd Skynyrd de retour en Europe pour quelques dates en Finlande,
Danemark, Allemagne, Royaume Uni et Irlande durant le mois de mars
2010. Rien de prévu pour la France mais on peut toujours espérer.

Il fallait que j' en parle, le 13 mars, ARTE dans son journal de 19h, a diffusé un reportage sur la tournée allemande de(ce qui reste de) LYNYRD SKYNYRD.
C' est un groupe que nous sommes nombreux(ses) à apprécier sur le forum, et je peux vous dire que quand j' ai vu les horreurs que débitait le sieur Medlocke lors de l' interview, ma machoire a failli se décrocher!!
En gros, le groupe affiche un discours radicalement anti Obama, et le chante bien fort; déja, le titre du dernier album "God and guns" était un peu suspect, mais les textes sont absolument épouvantables du genre:"Ton amérique on n' en veut pas, on veut pouvoir porter nos flingues et enseigner la religion à l' école, Obama, on va te montrer qui sont les vrais américains!"Je vous assure que ma transciption est en decà de la violence du texte original!?
Je n' ai pas pu récupérer le reportage originel sur le site d' ARTE, si quelqu' un pouvait le retrouver ce serait bien;bordel, je suis plus que déçu par ce "groupe", et je préfère réécouter mes vieux SKYNYRD de la grande époque, parce-que ces enculés là, je veux plus jamais en entendre parler!

Le groupe prévoit de sortir un nouvel album en novembre prochain ainsi qu'ouvrir un restaurant à Las Vegas :

Lynyrd Skynyrd intend to start recording a new album in November.

It will be the follow-up to 2009’s God & Guns, and the band have been collaborating on songs with Buddy Guy, George Thorogood, Susan Tedeschi and former Boston drummer Tom Hambridge.

And in the autumn, the band will be opening the Lynyrd Skynyrd BBQ & Beer restaurant in the Excalibur Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas.

This will have memorabilia and artwork, and is being designed to look like Hell House, the shack in Jacksonville where the band came up with their sound in the late 1960s. Skynyrd will also play there several times each year.

Frontman Johnny Van Zant told Billboard:

“It’s been in the works for about a year now, and they just broke ground about a month ago. It’s kind of between the Luxor and Excalibur, so it’s right here on the strip in a pretty good spot. We hope that when bands come through they’ll go and visit and it’ll be a place to hang out. It should be a cool thing.”

NEW YORK, NY (May 2, 2012) - Loud & Proud/Roadrunner Records announced today the release of Last Of A Dying Breed from Lynyrd Skynyrd, the band’s first studio album since the September 29, 2009 release of God & Guns which debuted at #18 on the Billboard Top 20 and gave the band their highest debut since 1977. Last Of A Dying Breed reunites the band with producer Bob Marlette who produced God & Guns.

“It was great to get back in the studio with Bob for this new album,” said Gary Rossington “we kind of went back old school this time. All of us playing together in the studio as a band, tracking songs and creating licks. We had a lot of fun and the music really flowed for us, so that’s when you know you are on to something good. We can’t wait to let the fans hear these songs and play ‘em live.”

Led by core members Gary Rossington (guitar), Johnny Van Zant (vocals) and Rickey Medlocke (guitar), along with longtime drummer Michael Cartellone, Lynyrd Skynyrd have recorded an album that continues the tremendous legacy that began over 35 years ago in Jacksonville, Florida, a legacy that was halted for a decade after the 1977 plane crash that killed three band members, including Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines. Since then, the band tragically lost Billy Powell, Ean Evans, Allen Collins, Leon Wilkeson and Huey Thomasson, yet they rock on.

Joining Lynyrd Skynyrd will be bass player Johnny Colt, an original member of the Black Crowes who has also played with Train and Rockstar Supernova. When asked about receiving a phone call from Rickey Medlocke on behalf of Lynyrd Skynyrd to join the band, Johnny said, “What else do you say to Medlocke, Rossington and Van Zant? We’re talking southern rock royalty. We’re talking Lynyrd Skynyrd. The only thing out of my mouth was when and where!”

Les fans viennent de réagir vivement à l'annonce du groupe selon laquelle le drapeau confédéré n'apparaitrait plus scène. On sait pertinemment qu'il fait partie intégrante du merchandising du groupe. Gary Rossington, le seul membre historique du groupe, vient de confier à CNN que le combo reconnaît que ce drapeau peut revêtir une connotation raciale et non raciste (précisons-le), drapeau qui, il faut le rappeler, fut le signe de ralliement du Général Lee et de ses hommes pendant la Guerre de Sécession. Gary Rossington poursuit son raisonnement en affirmant que des organisations telles que le K.K.K (Ku Klux Klan qui prône une Amérique blanche pour des Blancs) ou même certains skinheads, ont galvaudé le véritable message et l'héritage des soldats confédérés.

Legendary Southern rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd have angered some fans by announcing that they will stop using the confederate flag, which for much of their career had been featured prominently on their stages, logos, t-shirts and other tour merchandise.

The band’s lone original member, guitarist Gary Rossington, recently told CNN that the group does recognize the racial divide that comes with the flag, which was flown by the confederacy of 11 southern “slave” states who seceded from America during the Civil War.

As he explained, “Through the years, people like the KKK and skinheads kinda kidnapped the Dixie or Southern flag from its tradition and the heritage of the soldiers. That’s what it’s all about. We didn’t want that to go to our fans or show the image like we agreed with any of the race stuff or any of the bad things.”

However, not all fans agree with this decision. A number of them criticized the group on the CNN message board. One hit out at the band for just erasing the imagery altogether rather than attempting to educate their fans. It was also suggested repeatedly that by removing the Confederate imagery, the group was alienating a segment of their audience — those who identified with the band’s longtime embrace of all things southern.

Another commenter simply altered a Skynyrd lyric, explaining, “Well I hope Lynyrd Skynyrd will remember, a Southern man don’t need THEM around anyhow.”
