On aurait pu s'attendre à tout avec ce génie éclectique qu'était Phil Lynott.

Dans une interview Marco Mendoza a laissé filtrer certaines indiscrétions selon qu'après la présente tournée le groupe va entrer en studio 30 ans après leur dernier album studio.

Le groupe se réunit aujourd'hui en studio :

Thin Lizzy will gather to start recording work today. Guitarist Damon Johnson tweeted last night: “Thin Lizzy enters the recording studio tomorrow with electric guitars and amps a-blazin’, and Brian Downey’s full drumkit.”
Frontman Ricky Warwick recently said: “We’re all working really great together as a band. Let’s get in there and see what ideas we have and take it from there.” He added they won’t record a full album unless they “100 percent believe in” the material.

Le groupe se produira les 7 et 8 août pour deux concerts privés à l'Under The Bridge Club, club qui est situé dans le quartier irlandais de la ville et a promis une ou deux surprises :

The band will play intimate shows underneath Chelsea's football ground

They play at the Under The Bridge club on 7-8 August as part of London Irish Village 2012, which will feature a series of events to celebrate Ireland in London during the Olympics.

Guitarist Scott Gorham commented, "After having a phenomenal year and a half on the road, including some great shows with GUNS N’ ROSES last month, we jumped at the chance to play a couple of dates at the London Irish Village 2012 at Under the Bridge to give something back to the London fans who have been so loyal to us. These are intimate shows in a state of the art venue with very limited tickets available, and will be our only London shows for the rest of this year, so will be very special. We may even throw in a surprise or two!"

The new Thin Lizzy album will not follow Phil Lynott’s last music footsteps, says guitarist Damon Johnson. He reports: “Towards the original end they made Thunder and Lightning. That album was so heavy – it seemed Phil wanted to go down a heavy metal route for a while. That’s not what the new album will be. There are some big, fat classic riffs. We all know it’s going to be under the microscope. We know there will be pundits who criticise it, but pundits aren’t necessarily fans.”

Of frontman Ricky Warwick Johnson says: “The guy is a class songwriter, and that’s what Scott Gorham and Brian Downey needed to make another Thin Lizzy record.”

Le nouvel album n'empruntera pas le chemin musical qu'avait emprunté Phil Lynott a révélé le guitariste Damon Johnson. Voici ce qu'il rapporte : "A la fin du line-up originel, ils ont publié Thunder And Lightning. L'album était si heavy qu'il semblait que Phil voulait se diriger pendant un temps vers une voie plus heavy. Ce n'est pas ce que sera le nouvel album. Il y a de bons gros riffs classiques. Nous savons tous qu'il sera disséqué. Nous savons qu'il y aura des spécialistes pour nous critiquer mais les spécialistes ne sont pas nécessairement des fans"

A propos de Ricky Warwick, voici ce que Johnson rapporte : "c'est un songwriter de talent et c'est ce dont avaient besoin et Scott Gorham et Brian Downey pour faire un nouvel album."

Concert ce soir à Colmar.

Yeess ! ! j'y etais mais un peu déçu (50 mn en tout mais à 100%) avec cet armada de matos je les croyais lancés pour 1h30 au moins , mais là.....
J'ai meme perdu le gout pour Toto (j'ai tenu 20 mn) et suis aller manger un croque-monsieur et retrouver le gout avec un petit verre de pinot gris .....

On n'a pas eu les raisons pour lesquelles ce show a été écourté. La présence de Toto qui suivait peut-être ?

Une nouvelle bio sortira le 16 novembre :

Thin Lizzy guitarist Scott Gorham’s memoir, “The Boys Are Back In Town,” will be published November 16.

The book was co-written with journalist Harry Doherty and is expected to give the inside story of the band's days on the road.

The 160-page paperback is described as follows:

"One of the defining rock groups of the 20th Century, Thin Lizzy began life in Dublin in 1969 when childhood friends Phil Lynott and Brian Downey were approached by two former members of Van Morrison's band Them: Eric Wrixon (keyboards) and Eric Bell (guitar).

Now for the first time, their story is told by guitarist Scott Gorham and rock journalist Harry Doherty. The band's story is told by the people who were involved directly including former guitarists, road crew, management, family and friends. Their origins in Dublin as a three piece with the 'Whiskey In The Jar' single and a string of unsuccessful but highly creative albums. The move to London to chase the dream of being a major rock band. The chaotic arrival and departures of various members, including Eric Bell (who left the band mid-concert), Irish guitarist Gary Moore, Brian Robertson and co-author Scott Gorham.

How the album 'Jailbreak' and single 'Boys Are Back In Town' took the band to the top of the charts just as they were to become bankrupt. Includes stories of the band on the road, the drink and drugs and how the years of partying, drug-taking and non-stop touring eventually took its toll on not only the band members but on their families. The death of front man Phil Lynott and their legacy following his death."


Thin Lizzy – with Gorham – are currently in the studio working on new music.
